A few weeks ago I posted a video for confirmation it was a Common Shrew (which it was). Placed the camera back in the area for a few days and recorded the shrew active through the night (though I've not timed intervals). Left in a well protected hedgerow or rather hedgerow either side of shallow ditch so well protected from e.g. predatory birds. But Common Shrew is said to need to feed every 2 or 3 hrs so, does that frequency include through the day because I've not recorded it during the day (small birds are recorded ok) and a shrew active daytime must be a risk.
From what I can see (online) they only take short rest periods so is it just the trail cam is less sensitive in daylight or does their foraging behaviour change during the day?
