I have seen very few slugs about the garden this year for some reason so was surprised to come across this chap half way up a door frame this morning. Tandonia sp. I think but at a little over 8cm seemed a bit long for the species?
My find of the day is a nice spider Nuctenia umbratica guarding the exit of my polytunnel. I've seen it a few times hiding in a gap in the woodwork but tonight was the first time this year it was nicely out in the open.
Another nice spider found today in the polytunnel is the Fencepost Spider Marpissa_muscosa. These are quite common in my tunnel but not seen very often due to their nature of just wandering about with no fixed place to call home. They may be present outside as well but finding them would be difficult unless an inordinate amount of time is spent on hands and knees.
