Out in the centre of the back gardens here at home there's a mature oak always busy with birds and I'll often spend a few moments watching it through the kitchen window even yesterday during heavy rain all day again it was buzzing all day.
At one point I noticed wood pigeon, collard dove, magpie, starling, gold finch, green finch and chaffinch, also gold finch, blue, great, coal tits could hear long tailed as well always around black bird and house sparrow, robin and wren
We had a similar experience yesterday Ian on the monthly bird walk in the main park in central Ealing. We stopped to look at a couple of Goldcrests feeding around the branches of an oak, then a Nuthatch was spotted, a group of 10 Long-tailed Tits flew in to join the Blue + Great Tits + finally a Great-spotted Woodpecker flew into the uppermost branches. Below on the ground we had a few Wood Pigeons, a couple of Magpies, a Mistle Thrush + a pair of Pied Wagtails. Amazing how much comes to you when you stand still, especially with a group of maybe 15 people.
