Annoyed with Amazon Jan 19, 2019 12:39:14 GMT

Back before Christmas, we both received mailings from Amazon...
Snowlynx got a letter trying to tempt him into signing up to Prime, while I got one trying to get me to 'return' to Prime. (I never willingly signed up to it in the first place, but once during a checkout seem to have accidentally ticked something. They are sneaky about it, and I immediately requested it be cancelled.)
Anyway, both of these letters came with plastic cards attached- they look like credit cards but serve no function whatsoever. They have our names on them, but are just decorative things stuck to the letters, (for lack of a better word?) They might make a decent bookmark, but other than that they will end up in the bin... two near-indestructable, thick bits of plastic.
How many of these stupid things did Amazon send out over Christmas?? I mean, with all the publicity in the press and in the media lately over single-use plastics ending up in the sea and in landfill.... and they go and intentionally send something out (in the thousands, I've no doubt) of something that isn't even a single use at all??
Even the sodding plastic tubs containing fruit and veg at Tescos do serve a purpose at least ONCE, but this??
I was fuming, (and now I am again- up goes the bloodpressure, I'm sure!) and I told Snowlynx that under no circumstances were we to use Amazon over Christmas... and we managed not to. (It wasn't easy, but good old Etsy did very nicely instead, thank you very much.)
I just now came across the stupid things while having a clearout, and suddenly felt the need to vent. I think I'll send them back to Amazon with a good rant attached to them. No one will listen, but I'll feel better for it. Grrrrrrrrrr ! ! ! !
