Saw this cute little bird sitting atop a bush at Stanmore Country Park, London. It would periodically fly several meters up in the air then dramatically swoop vertically down again. Anyone any ideas what it could be?
There was quite a big influx of Stonechats in the London area in the last couple of weeks. I counted 8 in Richmond Park (the most regular breeding site in the London area + this has been a good year) + somebody else counted 12 there + had a pair on my local patch on Sunday. Many others were seen by other observers at other sites. Nice photo!
Always a joy to see these birds but they do suffer when we have prolonged wintry weather!
