I was sent a beautiful bunch of flowers and this was one of the plants. It is beautiful - a grass maybe? It seems to put a glimmering glow around the roses and freesias. I have never seen it before and am intrigued to know what it is.
Thank you teasel. Now I just need to find if it will grown near my pond, though I doubt it as the ground is peat.rock and wet. Still I might have a go, there seems to be plenty of places on-line that sell it.
With P.miliaceum you can see the seeds drooping down. I agree that Panicum elegans is a decorative cultivar. Confess I did not realise it was of the millet family. Won't be much use for the birds:) I let quite a bit of the millet that grows here go to seed and the birds like it.
