We came across numerous teasels growing in a field a few days ago, and I brought back one of the heads to see if the goldfinches might like a change from nyjer seed... I attached it to the bracket their feeder hangs from using garden wire.
It has been ignored most of the time, but one decided to give it a try- so it's not been a complete waste! I might go back and see if I can get a few more before they loose all their seeds. I'll probably have teasels coming up all over the garden next year.
I tried growing teasels which was absolutely no problem whatsoever in its self, it fact it turned out so successful they grew ‘completely everywhere’ they was not wanted as well. But despite this not a single goldfinch went anywhere near them, in fact they seemed to much prefer the lavender plants and so I dug them all out in the end.
