Looking at some pictures on Flickr the other day a photographer I've been looking at for a little while, she takes some outstanding photos and edits them just this side of HDR and that really appeals to my taste. I noticed that the odd picture was edited with a phone app 'Snapspeed' I've not heard of it before and thought it may be of interest to others, seems to have lots of tools and available on Android. iphone and desktop if your using the chrome browser. I'll be giving it a go. Also check this lady out for some beautiful landscapes from our own fair isles
I had only seen herons at a distance until one discovered our next-door neighbour's fish pond two years ago.
He would sit up in the trees between our gardens, looking down at the pond... I was fortunate to get some close-up photos of him standing at the edge staring down into the water. He didn't seem bothered by me hanging over the fence snapping away. (Herons are great bird subjects- they don't move for ages.)
Extraordinarily majestic creatures... and so impressively BIG. This was when I really started to appreciated the dinosaur ancestry of birds.
I didn't think he'd be able to catch anything, because the pond is build like a swimming pool- straight sides, tiled around the edges and quite deep without shallow margins.
It was later I found out he did actually dine (more than once) on some very expensive koi carp!
I'm still glad I had the chance to see one this close.
