A reminder to anyone who fancies taking a photo of the Milky Way that all of this week is a good time.
Today, the Moon sets at about 5:30pm, about 90 minutes before the Sun and doesn't rise again until after 2am tomorrow. By Saturday it sets about 45 minutes after the Sun but is only a very thin waxing crescent.
This time of year is possibly the best to see the brightest part of the Milky Way, as seen from the UK.
Thanks Helen. I was quite lucky as it clouded over later on. I saw photos of the Aurora, during the weather forecast this morning, on BBC Breakfast. Unfortunately I did not see any last night. I have a shot taken very close to the direction of one of the photos shown this morning but there is no trace of the Lights. However, my photo was taken around 9:30pm so perhaps I was too early.
